Anyone who wishes to study at the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media is required to apply in writing and subsequently take an entrance exam. In addition, proficiency in German is required.

Please bear the following deadlines in mind:

Entrance exams only take place prior to the winter semester for the bachelor program in Music, Music Promotion, Music and Media and Audio and Video Engineering.

There are entrance exams for the Master's programs in Music and Music Promotion as well as for the Master's program in Orchestral Performance (at the Orchesterzentrum in Dortmund) and for Schumann junior prior to the winter semester
(application deadline: March 15, university confirmation of receipt)
and the summer semester.
(application deadline: November 1, university confirmation of receipt)

Additional entrance exams prior to the summer semester are held for graduates of the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media for advanced studies in Solo Performance (Konzertexamen) and Composition.
(application deadline: November 1)

The application deadline prior to the summer semester for the Master's program in Musicology is February 15 and for the Winter Semester August 15. We regret that the university cannot process late applications.
