Requirements for the Orchestral Instruments master’s program – Clarinet major

The following works must be prepared for the Performance master’s program proficiency test:

For prospective Orchestra majors:
1. C. M. v. Weber: 1st movement from one of the two concertos (F minor/E-flat major)
2. Bela Kovacs: “Hommage à Manuel de Falla”
3. Any work from the 20th century. (Instead of the works suggested in points 1–3, three other works from different style periods at a comparable level of difficulty may also be chosen.)
4. Two orchestra passages: a) either Mendelssohn, Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Beethoven, 6th Symphony b) a passage of the musician’s choice  

For prospective Chamber Music majors:
1. C. M. v. Weber: 1st movement from one of the two concertos (F minor/E-flat major)
2. Bela Kovacs: “Hommage à Manuel de Falla”
3. A work of the musician’s choice from the 20th century
4. Performance of a chamber music piece (of the musician’s choice) with his or her own ensemble or the opening movement of one of the two Brahms sonatas op.120

For prospective Music Promotion majors: a short, artistically prepared introduction to the program of the proficiency test (about 5 minutes)

The examining boards reserve the right to make a selection from the pieces.
