Requirements for the Orchestral Instruments master’s program – Percussion major

The following areas are tested:

In general:

1. Snare drum: 2 études or solo works at the level of “Hard Times” by M. Peters or “Prim” by A. Masson

2. Timpani: a solo piece at the level of “Challenge 2” by J. Delecluse or “Rhapsody No. 2” by A. Orfaly

3. Mallet instruments: Performance on one of the following three instruments: a) marimba: a work at the level of “Marimba Concertino Suite” by N. Rosauro or b) vibraphone: a prelude from the method book “7 Preludes for Vibraphone Solo” by L. Cauberghs or c ) xylophone: a piece from the method book “Vingt Études pour Xylophone” by J. Delecluse

For prospective Music Promotion majors: 2 passages from the orchestra repertoire

For prospective Chamber Music majors: one of the works performed must be accompanied

For prospective Music Promotion majors: a short, artistically prepared introduction (of about 5 minutes) to the program of the proficiency test
