Orchestral Playing (master's)
The four-semester master’s program in Orchestral Playing provides graduates of music conservatories with targeted, practical training for a career as an orchestra musician. The Orchesterzentrum-NRW is a joint institution of the four colleges of music of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is Europe’s first inter-institutional educational center for prospective orchestra musicians.

Candidates who wish to study Orchestral Playing must complete an artistic-musical proficiency test. The requirements for each instrument major are available at the Orchesterzentrum Dortmund website (german).
Proficiency in GermanInternational applicants must possess adequate German language skills. The B2 certificate (according to the Goethe Institute classification system) or a comparable qualification is required. This also applies to direct enrollment in a higher semester.Commencement of studies and application deadlinesIn the Choral Conducting master’s program, studies can commence in the winter or the summer semester. The application deadline is March 1 (for studies commencing in the winter semester) and October 31 (for studies commencing in the summer semester). The date-of-receipt stamp of the university applies.
