Choral Conducting (master’s)

Choral Conducting students can earn a degree in the Music Promotion program.

Successful graduates from the bachelor's program can continue with a four-semester master’s program in Choral Conducting. As in the corresponding undergraduate program, the heart of this master’s program consists of instruction in conducting and practical choral work. Master's candidates can choose to specialize either in working with professional ensembles or with amateur ensembles. As is the case in the bachelor’s program, the master’s program also offers many different electives allowing students to further develop and extend their artistic abilities.

Detailed information about the sequence and contents of the program can be found in the Choral Conducting (master’s) module overview.

Students of choral conducting acquire and comprehensively deepen their artistic and expressive capabilities in working with choirs in a very wide range of age groups and ability – from children’s choirs all the way to professional concert choirs. Those enrolled in the academic program benefit not only from the cooperation of the Robert Schuman Hochschule with elementary and secondary schools in Düsseldorf but also from working with the chamber choir of the Institute of Church Music. In addition, students take part in the annual oratorio projects in which the Institute of Church Music, the Voice Department and orchestral musicians at RSH collaborate.
