Requirements for the bachelor’s program in Music Theory/Aural Skills Training
The following must be prepared for the oral-practical exam:
a) Specialist interview (20 minutes):
1. Submission of music theory works (analyses, style copies, compositions)
2. Discussion of academic program and career choice
3. Testing of music theory topics at the piano: Cadences, basso continuo, modulation, if necessary, style-based improvisation, fundamentals of form and analysis
4. Listening, naming and playing back intervals, rhythms, scales, tone rows, chords (up to 4-part), cadence progressions
b) Major and minor instrument/voice:
1. Major instrument or voice: two works of moderate difficulty from two different style periods
2. Minor instrument/voice: two easier works from two different style periods.
The major or minor instrument must be piano.
