At the age of 15, he switched to electric guitar, started practising rock guitar styles intensively and soon after, he became a regular fixture in the local music-scene. His increasing interest in jazz music lead him in 1987 to the Arnheim Conservatory (NL) for jazz guitar.

With Birth Control, Mr. Engelhardt has published numerous albums (to which he contributed as a guitarist as well as a producer and composer). The band also appeared on the TV-shows Rockpalast (WDR) and Hitgiganten (SAT 1).

These days, Peter Engelhardt is busy working as a session musician in the rock- and jazz music scene. He has been playing numerous tours, gigs and studio production with diverse artists such as Blixa Bargeld, Marla Glen, der Köln Big Band, Christian Brückner, David Murray, Katharina Thalbach, Gunter Hampel, dem Tim Isfort Orchester, Ralph Peterson jr., Esther Fellner and many more.

The Bonn and Oberhausen theatres are also booking him frequently as a theatre-musician for their productions.
