Kaling Hanke

Kaling Hanke was born in 1983. She earned a master’s degree in Audio and Video Engineering at the Institute of Music and Media Düsseldorf 2008 and then completed a Bachelor of Arts in Orchestral Conducting with an instrumental major in piano with Prof. Rüdiger Bohn at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf in 2012.

After completing studies in conducting and a one-year conducting scholarship with the Bergisch Symphoniker, she was engaged from 2013 as conductor and rehearsals coach by the Niedersächsische Staatsoper Hannover. In addition to various productions of her own, she was also involved as assistant conductor in numerous productions, among them Mozart’s Così fan Tutte.

Since 2016 she has again devoted herself more strongly to recording and sound engineering.

She currently works as a freelance sound engineer and digital editor for, among others, Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Edition Hänssler. In addition, since 2017 she has been working as a freelance sound engineer for WDR Cologne.

Starting in the 2018/19 winter semester Kaling Hanke has been teaching musical Aural Skills Training to Classical Music Recording majors in the Artistic Music Production master’s program.
