Jan-Kees van Kampen, born 1975, studied Music Technology at Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht with the specialisation Electronic Music.

Since 2001 he has been working in the fields of sound- and media arts, either solo or in group projects. As a member of the Schreck Ensemble (for electro-acoustic music), he has done live electronics and SuperCollider programming. 
From 2004 untill 2011 he was part of the GOTO10 collective, which dealt with the promotion of free software in the realm of digital arts.
Since 2006 he's working at the Sandberg Institute as media tutor, which involves the creation and appropriation of digital media for interactive/installative and performative work.
Besides he has been taking on programming-, teaching-, theatretechnical- (AV, light, webstreaming) and systems administration jobs.
Jan-Kees van Kampen: "Generally I love to work with people with a passion for autonomous creation (using digital means). Since a few years I've been teaching free software in artistic contexts. In early summer 2013 I gave an introduction to some of my solo work at the Institute For Music And Media, themed around the notion of freedom and how it has been driving the things I do."

Since 2013 Jan-Kees van Kampen has been teaching Programming as Improvosation at the Institute For Music And Media of the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media in Düsseldorf.
