Robert Keilbar
Assistant Professor of Film Sound

Born in Berlin in 1987, Robert Keilbar began his studies at the Institute For Music And Media as an Audio and Video major in 2008.

After many film sound projects completed at a wide range of film universities, in 2011 he became a re-recording mixer for documentary and feature films and advertising. Ever since he has worked as a production sound mixer, sound designer, foley artist and re-recording mixer. A special area of focus in his work is authentic audio design in documentary films.

Robert Keilbar is a founding member of the nurTon Klangnetzwerk [Sound Only Audio Network],  in which since 2013 he has collaborated with sound engineering colleagues in implementing audio post-production projects for audiovisual media. 

After giving workshops at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne  and at Düsseldorf University, since 2016 Robert Keilbar has been Assistant Professor of Film Sound at the Institute For Music And Media of the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. He teaches the contents of production sound recording and sound post-production, with special emphasis placed on considering the unique production processes of the film sound industry as a comprehensive sound design process.
