Swantje Lichtenstein works as an artist, writer, translator, editor and professor. Her area of focus involves performative, essayistic and electro-acoustic artistic practice founded on sound- and material-based language arts, electro-acoustic and conceptual writing and recording methods from a transmedia and feminist viewpoint. 

Performances and appearances worldwide (among others): International Festival of Text-Sound Poetry, New York, Non-Event at the Goethe Institut Boston, Poetic Voices Africa, Sound Eye Festival Cork, International Poetry festivals in Bucharest, Romania, Istanbul, Turkey, Guadalajara, Mexico (Goethe Institute), European Writers Festival Yerevan, Armenia. 

Artist residencies most recently in Nairs, Switzerland, Istanbul, Turkey, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Has been teaching as a professor since 2007 and is head of the Text and Artistic Practice major at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf (HSD) in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Lecturer at the University of Applied Arts/Vienna, ifs-International Film School/Cologne, Academy of media Arts/Cologne, College of Music and Art/Montepulciano/Italy, University of Delhi/India among others. Organizer of, among others, the LCD_Düsseldorf (2010-2014), and cOsmOsmose Festival of Performance Poetry and Verbophonics (since 2014).
