Christoph Terbuyken
Assistant professor for Computer-based Music Production

Christoph Terbuyken was born in 1978 and studied the recording producer program at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold from 1998 to 2003. He was a member of the Landesjugendorchesters NRW [North-Rhine Westphalia state youth orchestra] for several years and a bass player in the Hochschule’s big band. 

Since 2003 he has been working in many areas of music production as a recording producer, arranger, music producer, composer and bass player. 
From 2005 to 2006 he worked as a freelancer for the Emil-Berliner-Studios in Hannover and Berlin, where he was responsible for mastering. 
From 2009 to 2012 Christoph Terbuyken regularly produced music for the broadcaster ZDF Digital’s on-air promotion. He has also been working as a freelance recording producer for the WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln, another German broadcaster) since 2012.

In addition to numerous independent productions, he has worked with Peter Herbolzheimer, Paul Young, Daliah Lavi, Roland Bless, Masen Abou Dakn and Al Bano, among others. Since 2005 he has been cooperating regularly as a co-producer and arranger with Prof. Dieter Falk, another member of the IMM teaching staff.

Christoph Terbuyken has been a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold for the subject Ensemble populäre Musik [Ensembles of Popular Music] since 2006, and has been teaching Computer-based Music Production at the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media Düsseldorf’s Institute For Music And Media since 2014.
