Requirements for the Orchestral Instruments master’s program – Flute major
The following works must be prepared for the Performance master’s program proficiency test:
For prospective Orchestra majors:
1. The first and second movements of a flute concerto by W. A. Mozart
2. In addition, two works from two further style periods, one of them post-1950
3. Five orchestral extracts of the candidate’s choice. These five extracts may include passages for piccolo.
For prospective Chamber Music majors:
1. The first and second movements of a flute concerto by W. A. Mozart
2. A sonata (flute/piano) of the candidate’s choice or a chamber work with the candidate’s own ensemble
3. A modern work (from after 1950) of the candidate’s choice
For prospective Music Promotion majors:
1. The first and second movements of a flute concerto by W. A. Mozart
2. In addition, two works from two further periods, one of them post-1950
3. A short, artistically prepared introduction (of about 5 minutes) to a work from the program of the proficiency test
The examining boards reserve the right to make a selection from the pieces.
