Requirements for the Orchestral Instruments master’s program – String Bass major
The following works must be prepared for the Performance master’s program proficiency test:
For prospective Orchestra majors:
1. The first and second movements of a Classical concerto such as by Dittersdorf, Vanhal, Hoffmeister
2. A first movement of a Romantic concerto such as by Koussevitzky or Bottesini
3. Three orchestra passages from standard repertoire
For Chamber Music majors:
1. Opening movement of a Classical concerto by a composer such as Dittersdorf or Sperger
2. Two movements from an extensive Romantic sonata such as by Misek, Hertel or Montag
3. A chamber music work scored for more than 2 instruments
For prospective Music Promotion majors: a short, artistically prepared introduction (of about 5 minutes) to the program of the proficiency test
The examining board reserves the right to make a selection from the pieces.
