Requirements for the master’s program in Orchestral Instruments – Trombone major
The following works must be prepared for the Performance master’s program proficiency test:
For prospective Orchestra majors:
1. A Baroque work of the musician’s choice (for example Handel, Concerto in F minor)
2. F. David, concerto, 1st and 2nd movements (tenor trombone), E. Sachse, concerto, 1st and 2nd movements (bass trombone)
3. One of the major trombone works of the candidate’s choice
4. A selection of the musician’s choice from common audition passages
For Chamber Music majors:
1. A Baroque work of the musician’s choice (for example Handel, Concerto in F minor)
2. F. David, concerto, 1st and 2nd movements (tenor trombone), E. Sachse, concerto, 1st and 2nd movements (bass trombone)
3. One of the major trombone works of the candidate’s choice
4. Chamber music with trombone, a chorale from a symphonic work, such as Brahms, Mahler, etc., or a 2nd movement from a concerto
For prospective Music Promotion majors: a short, artistically prepared introduction (of about 5 minutes) to the program of the proficiency test
The examining boards reserve the right to make a selection from the pieces.
