Workshop with sound engineer Jens Braun: Shostakovich, Piano Trio Op. 8

Sound engineer Jens Braun’s second workshop on video recording classical music with professional miking was held in the winter semester of 2022/2023.

The three-day workshop for students of the Artistic Music Production master’s program and the Classical Music Recording major of the Music and Media bachelor’s program focused on the workflows of simultaneous video and audio production and the coordination of post-production. The aim was to achieve an equally perfect result in both crafts.

For the production in the Partika Hall studio, RSH students Benjamin Gatuzz (violin, Mr. Bielow’s class), Esther ten Kate (cello, Mr. Wispelweij’s class), and Giuseppe D’Elia (piano, Ms. Smirnova’s class) performed the Piano Trio Op. 8 by Dmitri Shostakovich. The sound and image team consisted of Johannes Tosta, Daniel Müller, Frederik Denfeld, and Michael Schmid. The post-production was executed by Johannes Tosta (master’s student in the Artistic Music Production program) and Daniel Müller (student in the Sound and Image program).
