Dans les bois

Tim Schmiedner wrote a re-score for the film Dans les bois, shot by six students from the Ecole des Nouvelles Images and an entry in the 2020 European Talent Award competition.

His music supports the story told in lovingly crafted 3D animation with stop-trick charm about a dairy cow which gets to know the wonders of a new life in the forest, but also its dangers, in an appropriately old-fashioned way – close to the action and the characters, with a decidedly impressionistic French tonal language to give life to a narrated and pictured world.

The work, a hybrid production of a programmed orchestra and its own violin recordings, was created as the final project of the upper-level Media Composition 2 module.
