A very busy railway station. In the middle of a somewhat unusual conversation, in which several people are involved. Among them is Dennis. It is not clear what is happening in this multiple dialogue. Whether it’s Dennis’s quirky ideas, or this is just a very unconventional conversation, remains open.

Three Cut Up A Capella Studies - by Todor Manojlovic

The origin of the concept “cut up” lies in the distant past. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, William S. Burroughs was the protagonist of this still unusual but promising methodology. Behind it was initially a purely literary approach, which was not related to music. It exerted an influence on many “Beat Generation” authors, and still exists today. The cut-up technique has many facets, ranging from fine art all the way to music and film. It has had an influence on our culture. It is endless, inexhaustible and unpredictable.

These works are about three cut-up studies that deal specifically with rap and a cappella pop works. The unusual combination of literary cutting technique is combined here with the setting of poetry to music. The result offered to the listener is something new and unusual that builds a bridge between everyday language use and the human voice. In these studies, material from Eminem, 2Pac, Morlockk Dilemma, and Vitas is used to construct dynamic, rhythmic and unusual tonal shapes from individual fragments.
