www.claudia-nuesse.de The mezzo soprano Claudia Nüsse, born in Höxter, Germany, began her musical career playing piano and violin. As a violinist she was a permanent member of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Youth Orchestra and the World Youth Orchestra of the Jeunesse Musicale. After her Abitur she followed her violin studies and upon graduation became a nationally certified violin teacher at the University of Music Detmold. In the same period of time she gained her first experiences teaching violin during a five-year teaching capacity at the Paderborn City Music School. Her pedagogical ambitions were intensified through her study of education and school music and she qualified with the First State Exam for admission to the teaching profession (grammar schools). Access to the world of singing presented itself through these diverse studies. In 1994 Claudia Nüsse was admitted as a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service in Bonn (DAAD) for vocal studies with Prof. Kurt Widmer in Basel. Moreover, she was a prize-winner of the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe, took part in master classes with singers including Brigitte Fassbaender and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and was presented by the German television broadcaster ZDF in the film Schubert und Co with her own artist portrait. In 1997 the singer graduated with distinction as soloist from the Basel Music Academy. Since this time Claudia Nüsse can be heard in numerous concerts as a mezzo soprano and regards the primary aim of her artistic function to be in the preparation of oratorios, songs, chamber music and contemporary music. Claudia Nüsse has so far performed in numerous recitals with her piano accompanist Peter Kreutz; including in the Bielefeld Oetkerhalle concert hall and at the Foundation for the Arts and Culture in Düsseldorf. Her first experiences on the opera stage were gained with the literature of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the parts of Cherubin and Dorabella at the State Theatre in Detmold. A selection of her repertoire can be heard on CD recordings. Since 1997 Claudia Nüsse has been a permanent ensemble member of the WDR radio choir. In addition the mezzo soprano is also continuing to incorporate the variety in her training by teaching. Since 1998 she has been appointed assistant professor for Vocals at the Institute For Music and Media of the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media in Düsseldorf and regularly gives vocal master classes. Claudia Nüsse is a member of the jury in the regional Jugend Musiziertcompetition in North Rhine-Westphalia, member of the Association of German Voice Teachers (Bundesverband Deutscher Gesangspädagogen), the German Association of Musical Artists (DTKV) and the German Orchestra Union (DOV-Verban
