Im Schoß das Meer (The Sea in Your Lap)
Im Schoß das Meer is an audiovisual composition by Leonie Strecker.
The sight of the sea and the roaring of its waves. At its center a diabolical vortex, unnatural and full of delights, its undertow pulling us towards it. Filled by the sea and in turn encircled and, as though contained by it, in the lap of the water now gone solid, immersed in the perpetual sameness of the formless liquid.
The work combines sound, voice and found video footage into a video composition. The female voice and the breathing of the singer Rose Weissgerber are used as a means of generating sound.
Voice, breathing, and video material describe the context of the feminine as something liquid. Rushing torrents, bodily forces.
