Audio and Video
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)
The Audio and Video program is designed for students who are interested in a degree program combining technology and engineering with artistic studies but do not want to commit to a specific career path. The emphasis in this program is on a free and professional combination of skills, especially in settings where audiovisual work requires expert technological and artistic knowledge. That is why part of the degree curriculum is completed at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf.
Audio and Video combines many different subjects such as Classical Music Recording and Media Composition, musicology and physics, telecommunications engineering and multi-camera production. As is also the case in the Music and Media major, various major concentrations extend knowledge gained in foundation courses. For more information, see detailed descriptions here: Classical Music Recording, Media Composition, Music Informatics, Music Production, Music and Audiovisual Media, Music and Media Management, Music and Text and Visual Music.
During the final phase of the program of study, these subject areas converge and independent projects are carried out. Visiting speakers and supplementary course offerings provide additional insight into current trends in research, society and the arts.
The Audio and Video degree program, which is a further development of the well-known Düsseldorf audio engineering course of studies, combines individual instruction in voice or an instrument at the Robert Schumann University of Music and Media with the basic technological knowledge required for working as an audio and video recording professional. Previously narrowly defined, this discipline has become more broadly based in its outlook, and now features a rich combination of orchestral performance and film, computers, performing in bands, theory and new technological developments.
